Minutes of meeting: 10 February 2014

ADBASTON PARISH COUNCIL

A MEETING OF THE PARISH COUNCIL WAS HELD ON MONDAY 10TH FEBRUARY 2014 at 7.30PM IN THE JUBILEE ROOM, ADBASTON.

PRESENT: Cllr(s) N.Evans., P.Nicholson., P.Byrd., P.Drewnicki., A.Ward. (2 members of the

public)

ITEM 1 CHAIRMAN'S WELCOME: The chairman welcomed all those present and opened

the meeting.

ITEM 2 APOLOGIES: Apologies had been received from Cllr(s) B.Brown and J.Mansell.

ITEM 3 MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 9TH MEETING. Accepted as a true record and signed

by the chairman.

ITEM 4 MATTERS ARISING.

A VERGES, FLASHBROOK. Cllr Nicholson had contacted the Highways Department, it was

agreed that this problem is caused primarily by the continuing rainy weather and although

recorded for action is unfortunately of low priority. Discharge.

B BLOCKED DRAINS, CHETWYND. Cllr P Nicholson had visited the site and at the time

the flooding was not untoward but a blocking of a drain was evident. This has been

reported to the Highways Department and Cllr P Byrd stated that he would approach

Chetwynd Parish Council to see if they would add weight to getting the problem resolved Discharge.

ITEM 5 ON GOING ITEMS.

A DEFIBRILLATOR: Cllr P Nicholson reported:- Mr Martin Watson had attended a meeting

of the Millennium Green Committee and this had produced a positive outcome. The

Committee agreed to purchase a Defibrillator which it was hoped would be sited at the

Garage in Bishops Offley, if given consent by the owner. The committee would be

approaching the British Heart Foundation with a view to obtaining financial assistance

for this. Cllr Nicholson also agreed to speak with the garage owner on the subject.

Premier Foods had still not responded to the chairman's communications (a letter

rather than an email to be sent ) The siting of a Defibrillator centrally, in Adbaston, was

stressed as essential, approaching local societies asking if they would consider holding

fund raising efforts to provide funding for this was suggested.

B ROAD DEFECTS. LERRIDGE LANE. Cllr Nicholson had been informed by the Highways

Department that the lane had been resurfaced in 2011 and that it would be another

Five years before anything else would be done. Discharge.

MAIN ROAD, ADBASTON. Reported: the builders concerned had gone into liquidation,

The Highways network have given instructions for this to be repaired.

C 30MPH SPEED LIMIT. No news received to date. On going.

D FLASHBROOK. FLOODING/DAMAGED BRIDGE. On going.

ITEM 6 CORRESPONDENCE.

A STAFFORDSHIRE BORDER GROUP OF CHURCHES. Letter of appreciation for

donation towards production of the Church and Village Newsletter. Request of any

future donations are made cheques to be made out to Staffordshire Border Group

of Churches rather than St.Lawrence Church Gnosall.

B COMMUNITY COUNCIL OF STAFFORDSHIRE. Diary of Village Festivals and Events

2014

C ADBASTON PCC. Acknowledging receipt of £500.00 donation towards maintenance

of the Parish Churchyard.

D ADBASTON JUBILEE CLUB. Thank you letter for £200.00 grant.

ITEM 7 FINANCE.

A Payment of Room Hire fees for 2013 – 10 hours at £12.00 totalling £120.00p

approv ed.

ITEM 8 PUBLIC PARTICIPATION (None)

ITEM 9 PLANNING APPLICATIONS. (None to consider)

ITEM 10 DAT OF NEXT MEETING. (ANNUAL GENERAL and ANNUAL PARISH meetings

to be held on Monday 14th April.
